Welcome to 10th Grade Literature/Composition! :-) This is a 17 week course.
In this class, we are going to take a deep dive into the world of fantasy fiction to identify and evaluate how narrative elements work together to create leveled dimensions that evoke an experience for the reader. We will look at the thematic development of the human condition, including morality, duality, and the hero's journey. Students will also examine dystopian literature with a focus on analyzing how social concepts, such as individualism and collectivism, can alter perspective and identity. For this course, you will be required to utilize inferencing skills to draw conclusions about various texts, as well as expand on your knowledge of writing mechanics by analyzing scholarly essays and writing expository pieces.
